Setting up your profile

Freshers set up in five short steps — basic details, education, certificates and languages, skills and job preferences; experienced people also add address, work history and interests. Each step saves as you go, so you can leave and come back.

Continue setup

Step 1 — Basic details

Fresher or experienced Required

Choose "I’m a fresher" if you have no job yet, or "I have experience" and then how many years: 1–2 (Junior), 3–5 (Mid), 6–10 (Senior) or 10+ / Lead. Freshers skip the address, work history and interests steps; you can add those to your profile any time. Switching to fresher offers to remove old work entries, because a fresher is scored with no experience.

Why we ask: Matching only needs your education, certificates, skills and preferences when you are starting out.

First name Required

Your given name, as it should appear on your resume and to employers.

Example: Gurpreet

Common mistakes

  • Nicknames or all-caps names — employers read this first.

Last name Required

Your surname or family name.

Example: Singh

Common mistakes

  • Putting your full name in the first-name field.

Phone Required

A mobile number where employers can call you. Tick "Employers can WhatsApp me on this number" if they may message you there.

Why we ask: Most employers in Punjab shortlist by phone or WhatsApp.

Format: A 10-digit mobile number, digits only. +91 is already added.

Example: 9876543210

Common mistakes

  • Typing +91 or a leading 0 — enter just the 10 digits.

Date of birth

Optional. Used for age-based eligibility on some jobs. It is not printed on your resume.

Format: You must be at least 14 years old. Future dates are not accepted.

Gender

Optional. Choose Male, Female, Other or Prefer not to say.

Profile photo

Optional. Photo upload is coming soon; for now, paste a link to an image of yourself. If you signed in with Google, your Google photo is already filled in.

Format: A full image link starting with https://.

Common mistakes

  • Group photos, sunglasses or heavily filtered images.

Headline

Resume details: the title printed under your name on a resume. A resume can use its own headline instead.

Example: Data Entry Operator · Computer Operator

Resume email

The email printed on your resumes. Leave it empty to use your sign-in email.

Why we ask: Some people apply from a different address than the one they sign in with.

Format: A valid email address.

Location Required

The town or city you live in. Start typing and pick it from the suggestions. It is printed on your resume and shown on your profile.

Why we ask: Jobs near this city are shown and matched first.

Example: Barnala

Common mistakes

  • Typing a town and not selecting a suggestion — a linked city is what powers jobs near you.

LinkedIn

Your LinkedIn profile address, printed in your resume header.

Example: linkedin.com/in/your-name

Website

A portfolio or personal site, printed in your resume header.

Example: yourname.netlify.app

Professional summary

A few short paragraphs about who you are and what you do, shown at the top of your resume.

Format: Leave a blank line between paragraphs. Wrap words in **double stars** to make them bold.

Example: Full-Stack Product Engineer with **10 years of experience** building web and mobile applications.

Common mistakes

  • One long block of text — break it into two to four short paragraphs.

Step 2 — Address

You can skip this step, but local jobs are matched to the city you add here. You can add more than one address.

Type

Current (where you live now) or Permanent (your home address).

Postal code

Your 6-digit PIN code.

Example: 141001

Address line

House number, street and area.

Example: #123, Model Town

City Required

Pick your city from the suggestions list so it links to our city directory.

Why we ask: A linked city is what powers "jobs near you".

Common mistakes

  • Typing a city and not selecting a suggestion — it will not match local jobs.

State Required

Select your state from the list.

Country

Filled in from your region.

Step 3 — Education

Optional, but education strongly improves match quality — especially for freshers. Add one entry per qualification.

Level Required

Choose School (10th / 12th), Diploma / ITI / ETT / NTT, Bachelor's (B.A., B.Com, B.Ed…), Master's, PhD or Other.

Institution Required

Full name of your school, college or university.

Example: Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar

Degree name / Class

Optional. Pick from the suggestions for your level (10th or 12th for school; ITI, DCA, ETT for a diploma; B.Com, B.Ed for a degree) or type it exactly as on your certificate. When you enter it, the field of study becomes optional.

Example: B.Com

Field of study / Stream

Pick your subject from the list. For school, pick your stream (Medical, Non-medical, Commerce, Arts or Vocational) — it is optional there. Choose Other if yours is not listed.

Example: Commerce, Computer Science

Grade / percentage

Your final or current score.

Example: 78% or 8.2 CGPA

Common mistakes

  • Leaving out the unit — write "%" or "CGPA".

Start date and end date

Tick "I'm currently studying here" if you have not finished; the end date is then left blank.

A half-filled entry

Continue saves the entry you are typing. If it is missing something, a message says so next to Continue — tap Add to save it or Clear to empty the form.

Step 4 — Work history

Experience level Required

Asked once, on step 1: 1–2 years (Junior), 3–5 years (Mid), 6–10 years (Senior) or 10+ years / Lead.

Why we ask: It decides which sections lead your resume and which roles we match you to.

Work experience

For each role: Company and Job title (both required), Employment type (Full-time, Part-time, Internship, Contract or Freelance), start and end dates — or "I currently work here" — and an optional description. If you are not a fresher, add at least one to continue. Freshers can skip this, but internships and part-time work count.

Example: Sales Executive, Reliance Trends, Ludhiana — met a monthly target of ₹6 lakh for 8 months running.

Common mistakes

  • Listing duties instead of results — say what changed because of you.

Location

Optional. Where you did the job, printed next to the company name.

Example: Patiala, Punjab, India

Two current jobs

If you tick "I currently work here" on a second job, you are asked to confirm — usually the older one needs its end date.

Formatting the description

The description can carry structure that templates like Signature print neatly.

Format: Start a line with - for a bullet, ## for a sub-heading and ### for a product or client (add | and a short note after the name). Wrap words in **double stars** for bold.

Example: ## Key Responsibilities - Built the billing module used by 40 stores.

Step 5 — Certificates, languages and projects

Project name Required

A short name for what you built.

Example: College Attendance App

Description

What you built, what it does and what you used. Two or three lines is enough.

Why we ask: Projects carry a fresher resume — two with a short description go a long way.

Example: Lets teachers mark attendance on a phone. Built with Flutter and Firebase.

URL

Optional link to the live project or its code.

Format: A full link starting with https://.

Tools used

Optional. The tools, software or languages you used.

Format: Comma separated.

Example: Tally, MS Excel

Certificates & courses

Tap a common one (DCA, PGDCA, CCC, O Level, Tally, English/Punjabi/Hindi typing, CTET, PSTET…) or type the name, then add the issuer and year. For typing, add your speed.

Why we ask: Small-town employers screen on certificates and typing speed first.

Example: Punjabi Typing — 30 wpm — 2025

Languages

Each language you speak, with your level written your way.

Example: Punjabi — Native / Bilingual

Professional highlights

Short standout facts, each a highlight with an optional detail. The Signature template prints them as cards; a resume can list its own achievements instead.

Example: 10 Years — Professional software development experience

Step 6 — Career & skills

Choose your career categories first; the skills on offer come from them. Skills are the strongest signal for job matching, so add at least one.

Career categories

The fields you want to work in, such as Finance & Accounting or Administration & HR. Pick up to 3; tap × on a chosen one to remove it. Not sure? Tap “Take the Career Assessment” — it suggests a category and the skills to learn, and you can add its suggestion in one tap. You can always choose yourself instead.

Why we ask: Jobs filed under your categories rank higher in your matches, and the skills list shows only their skills.

Format: Up to 3 categories.

Example: Finance & Accounting, Administration & HR

Skills

With categories chosen, their skills are listed under each category; search narrows that list. Without a category, type 2 or more letters to search every skill. Tap a skill to add it. Skills come from the same list employers pick from, so a job that asks for a skill finds you. If a search finds nothing, try another name ("MS Excel" finds Microsoft Excel). Each added skill has an optional level: Beginner, Intermediate or Expert. Add only skills you have — skills the assessment suggests learning are never added for you.

Example: MS Excel, Customer Service, Punjabi Typing

Common mistakes

  • Very broad skills like "Computer" — be specific.
  • Adding skills you are still learning.

Step 7 — Interests

Interests

Tap suggested interests or add your own.

Why we ask: Interests improve your career assessment results and job suggestions.

Step 8 — How you like to work and job preferences

How you like to work

Pick the ways of working that suit you, such as teamwork or working independently.

Job search status

Actively looking, Open to offers or Not looking. Not looking stops every automatic application.

Preferred roles

Open a field (Office & Admin, Accounting & Finance, Teaching, Customer Support & BPO, Sales & Retail, HR & Recruitment, Healthcare, Banking & Insurance and more) and tap the roles you want. "Any role" covers the whole field.

Why we ask: Jobs are matched by role, not by the words in a job title.

Employment type

Full Time, Part Time, Contract, Internship, Freelance, Temporary or Apprenticeship. Pick all you would accept; automatic applications keep to them.

Work mode

On-site, Remote or Hybrid. Pick all you would accept.

Preferred locations

Tap the cities you are willing to work in. Tick "I can relocate" if you would move for the right job.

Why we ask: Unless you can relocate, automatic applications only go to your own city and the cities you pick.

Expected salary (min) and (max)

The monthly pay you expect, in rupees. If the minimum is more than the maximum, the message shows right under the salary fields.

Format: Numbers only, per month. The minimum cannot be more than the maximum.

Example: 18000 – 25000

Current salary, notice period and Can join from

Experienced only: your current monthly salary (optional, shown to employers you apply to) and how many days of notice you must give. Everyone: the earliest date you can start. Leave them blank if you can join right away.

Jobs I never want

The lowest monthly salary you would accept, job types you never want, and cities you never want. A job that breaks any of these is never applied to for you.

Common mistakes

  • Choosing the same city as preferred and blocked.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to finish every step?

No. Basic details are required, and if you are not a fresher you need at least one work experience. You can skip the other steps and come back later from your profile.

Is my progress saved if I close the page?

Yes. Each step saves when you continue, and setup reopens at the step where you stopped.

I am a fresher with no experience. What should I fill?

Choose "Fresher" as your experience level, then focus on education, projects and skills. Internships and part-time work still count as experience.

Who can see my profile?

Your profile is private. Employers see only what you share — for example your public resume or a job application.

Why pick a city from the list instead of typing it?

A selected city links to our city directory, which is how local jobs are matched to you. A typed city that is not selected cannot be matched.
